2 weeks old!!!

Carter is officially 2 weeks old! Actually he will be 3 weeks tomorrow but as I am a big time lagger I have not gotten around to blogging lately so again, i will only cover week 2.

Carter is seriously the best! Week 2 has been even more amazing than week 1. Joey and I have finally gotten into a rhythm! Carter is wayyyy way more alert now, which means we get to spend way more time talking, singing and playing with him. We have been doing tummy time daily and he is amazing at lifting his head and moving it from side to side. I may be a little biased but I am telling you- this kid is a genius and way ahead of the game!

Seriously though, Joey and I fall more in love with him every day. He is so sweet, so cute and so cuddly. He is now looking at our faces much more and reaching out a lot. I can't believe how amazing he is! Joey and I have gotten in the habit of singing him our favorite song "you are my sunshine..." and he absolutely loves it, if he is hungry or awake and needs to go to sleep, it almost instantly puts him out. We sing it to him every night before bed and anytime throughout the day that he needs a little soothing. Of course we switched up the lyrics a bit, but I love that he will always know this song as something that his mom and dad sang to him throughout his childhood.

We also are giving him baths every other night, which he absolutely loves. I think this is hialrious because everyone else tells me that their babies HATE baths but Carter seriously could not be more into it. He lays back, relaxes and looks like hes ready for a marg. Like mother like son.

Carter has now been out to a bunch of restaurants, stores and the mall. He is such an easy baby, we just take him along with us and scream at anyone who comes near him while I obsessively slather hand sanitizer over Joey and I and anything within a 5 inch radius. Sane, no?

Joey, Carter, Winston and I have been getting out every single day for a run/ walk down the trail by our house and Carter seems to really be digging it. We are out for about an hour every day and its been such a nice little routine to be in plus we could really use the exercise! Although I am finally below my pre preggers weight before the 2 week mark and can fit in all my old clothes! Yay! My belly is still a little soft but overall I feel great!

Having a baby is the most incredible thing Joey and I have ever done, and we already talking about how we can't wait to have another little babe.  But dont get your hopes up yet- I could use a little break from pregnancy and to have a drink or 10!!  I have to say, I think we were made for this! It is exhausting, frustrating and more work than I imagined but it is TRULY the most amazing, happy, fulfilling thing I have ever done in my life and my family has become so much more than I ever could have imagined!

Having Joey and Winstons birthdays coupled with the holidays and the holiday shopping we lagged on pre baby has been a lot of work. But Joey says we are amazing, somehow we managed to shower every day, run every day, get all of our shopping done, visit with family and freinds and keep the house in order. Its been crazy but it has been a blast. I am so lucky to have Joey here by my side. Can he please never go back to work?

get ready for the barrage of Carter pics!!!

One Week Old!

Carter is officially 1 week old! Well actually he is 11 days old as of today but I am just going to cover week 1. I cannot believe how fast time has flown! It has been quite a wild ride this last week. Joey and I are so in love with our son and spend the majority of our staring at him in wonder!!! I dont want to forget this time and I know how quickly it will go by so forgive the long rambling post. I am definitely sleep deprived but it is the most worth it reason to be sleep deprived ever and i wouldnt  change it for anything!!

First of all, I have to say the outpouring of love and support we have gotten from all of our freinds and family has been incredible! The first few days we had about a million visitors and people texting and calling to come see Carter and it still hasn't really died down. It really meant the world to us to have so many people as excited as we are to bring this little guy into the world! My parents and brother and joeys parents were there with us through everything and we cant thank them enough!!

He is so absolutey adorable and sweet. He makes the sweetest little expressions and we catch him smiling at us at least a few times a day- whether he knows it or not!! I finally understand how people are so immediately in love with their children. They really are a gift from God and you immediately have this instinct to protect, love and give them everything they could ever possibly want. I have a feeling I may be in trouble when everything he wants includes candy and ice cream for breakfast, 35 new puppies and to go out in nothing but a cape.

Its been a crazy week beccause it was joey and winstons bday on top of everything but we definitely cut out some time to celebrate which included me baking joey his fav confetti brownies, watching sports and obscene amounts of krispy kreme!!

Everyone keeps telling us  how Carter is a very very very easy baby.  He LOVES snoozing, doesnt cry unless he's hungry or cold, and doesnt get awoken by loud noises AT ALL. Literally Winston can be barking his brains out (which he is not allowed to do anymore but he loves to push the limits) or Joey can be hammering nails in the wall and he doesnt budge. AMAZING!

This means we lucked out that we dont have a fussy baby but it doesnt mean we arent SUPER exhausted. WE ARE! The first week we had to feed him every 2 hours which meant we slept at 1 hour increments. I was pretty much in a complete haze but I still absolultely LOVED getting up to feed him because I got to see his sweet little face- I keep telling everyone it is literally like Christmas morning, where you wake up SO excited to see his sweet little face and hug his little body despite how tired you may be. Then we moved onto 2 hour increments and now the doctor said we can get up when he wakes up hungry which varies from every 4 hours to every 2 1/2. He never wakes us up just to fuss, its always because hes hungry. joey calls him the milk junkie- our little boy loves his milk!

My mom has stayed with us the entire week and  she was a complete Godsend! We literally dont know what we would do without her! She has been amazing with the baby, with advice and just plain fun to have around. You know what they say- it takes a village!! Winston has also been reintroduced to the house as he was staying with my brother and now is sleeping downstairs in the kennel. He lets out a few whines every now and then but overall he doing great and adjusting as the older brother.

Having a baby together has brought joey and i even a million times closer anfd more in love if thats even possible.  we say our prayers every night of thanks for this incredible baby and wake up every mornig with our sweet son on his daddys chest and ramble in our incoherent exhausted talk about how blessed, happy and in love with Carter and each other. I have the worlds best husband and this crazy week has proven it to me even more if that is even possible. He has cared for me and our son and I could not be more amazed by how wonderful of a man he is. There is no better feeling in the world than cuddling up with him in bed with Carter on his chest and marveling in the amazing family we have created.

Carter is just such a sweet babe!!! I love his little fingers, little toes, the back of his head, his crazy hair he got from his daddy and his adorable little lips. ok i love everything! how could i not!!! ive been  working on our birth story but it is lonnnnggggggg so stay tuned...and here is a barrage of Carter love pics. DEAL with it!
